The Environmental Writers Project of Northwest Arkansas is the brain child of Bill Lord, Director of the Solid Waste Management Division of the Northwest Arkansas Economic Development District (NWAEDD). Bill coordinated a small group of environmentally conscious writers with experience in solid waste issues, known as the Environmental Writers Project, who contribute periodic articles, columns and news stories for publication in the region's newspapers and periodicals. These articles deal with general or specific solid waste management issues, informing readers about recycling, household hazardous waste (HHW) disposal, electronics waste, the risks of improper disposal methods, and other important issues. The authors provide the benefit of many years of cumulative experience in solid waste management and recycling, helping households stay informed about a subject that has become increasingly important in Northwest Arkansas.
